Be An Artist with Your Harvest

Mary Palmer Dargan

Puttin’ up yummy goodies from your garden is an adventure not to be missed.  Join us for Name your Eclipse Cocktail, Puttin’ Up Your Harvest, and Cast Iron Cookery Cocktails in the Garden.

On August 4, Design your Eclipse Cocktail!  Try cordials and bitters for abundant refreshment in the coming months.  Review and pick fresh plants from the Dovecote Garden for your pantry in the long months ahead.  Think about what new berry shrubs to include in your garden next year.  Plus, what will you name that Eclipse Cocktail?

On August 11, Puttin’ Up Your Harvest has never been as fun.  Pickles and Vinegars come to the forefront as healthy gifts.  Specially displayed in pretty bottles, vinegars and pickles are super fun and easy to prepare.  Bring your harvest and create your own special vinegar blend.  Cider apple vinegar is our favorite base and quite easily made from apples this time of year.

For our August 25 Finale, it’s Cast Iron Cookery Cocktails in the Garden.  This final season’s Garden Talk Salon invites you to join us for a fun meal of grape-leaf wrapped trout, ramp cornbread, a ‘kilt’ salad, and a special pie.  What fun to enjoy techniques of cooking over open flame, complemented with a glass of bubbly elderflower wine. Cost is $35, and admission is limited to 12.

Dovecote is located at 35 Flash Point Drive in Cashiers.

To save your seat, call (828) 743-0307.  Unless otherwise specified, a donation is welcomed for the class.
