Beers, Bites, & A Bodacious Night

Talk to anyone who remembers Highlands from the Good Old Days, and eventually you’ll hear the story of Helen’s Barn.

This venerable local landmark, which was erected just off of Main Street where Wright Square stands today, featured square dances, exuberant bluegrass music, and raucous good times. Relationships were created, nurtured and sustained by evenings at Helen’s Barn and it’s common knowledge that more than a few Highlanders were conceived in its parking lot.

Highlands lost something that had been woven into its spirit when Helen’s Barn was eventually shuttered and razed.

The Third Annual Rotary Craft Beer Night, set for Thursday, September 21, sets to make things right, if only for one evening.

Raise the roof, raise a pint, raise a sweat, and raise some funds for this third annual party. It’ll be staged from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, at Old Edwards Inn & Spa’s Farm.

Participants will enjoy a variety of local and regional craft beers and lite bites from area restaurants. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.

Revelers will also be treated to great rockin’ music, perfect for cutting loose on the dance floor.

Cost of the evening is $50 per person.  Tickets and reserved tables are on sale at eventbrite.com

All of the monies raised by the event will benefit the programs and projects of The Rotary Club of Highlands.  Sponsors include Old Edwards Inn & Spa, Laurel Magazine, Diane and Ray McPhail and The Ugly Dog Public House.
