Carts and Horses

Cashiers Historical Society opens The Zachary-Tolbert House, located at 1940 Highway 107 South, on May 19 with their first exhibit of the year, “Carts and Horses!”, which will run until June 18.

This exhibit will be located in Colonel John’s Cabin, located on the grounds.

Everyone in the community is invited to an afternoon of fun at this season’s inaugural exhibit.  The exhibit features the antique folk art toys on loan from the private collection of Jim and Sheila Hodges.

“The theme of the exhibit is ‘Transportation Toys of the 19th Century,’” says guest curator Skip Ryan.  “So many of the toys are horses and carts; sure to delight children of all ages.”

Sandi Rogers has planned related activities for children that will include games and toys that the Zachary and Tolbert children would have enjoyed in times past.

The Zachary Tolbert House and Colonel John’s Cabin are open Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.  The grounds and walking trails are open daily from dawn until dusk.
