Downtown’s Double Stuff

The Company Store

Fun, fun, fun.

That’s what it’s all about in downtown Highlands and a big part of that fun on weekends is gathering your family, friends and neighbors and heading downtown to hear music on a pleasant summer evening.  Outdoor concerts offer the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax and let the music take you away so don’t miss the Friday Night Live and Saturdays on Pine concert series.

Friday Night Live concerts take place at Highlands Town Square from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturdays on Pine are at the Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park on Pine Street and also begin at 6:00 P.M. These concerts offer the chance to hear some of the finest music our region has to offer.

Friday Night Live is part of the Blue Ridge Music Trails of North Carolina which offers communities opportunities to hear, learn about and enjoy mountain music. On July 7 you’ll  want to see the Foxfire Boys, local bluegrass favorites.  Make it a point to request “Fox On the Run” for a real treat. The Tallulah River Band plays on July 14, Silly Ridge Roundup on July 21 and the Johnny Webb Band on July 28.  Each of these acts has a finely-tuned stage show that won’t disappoint.

Saturdays on Pine offers a wide range of music so no matter what genre you like you will likely find something to enjoy-jazz, country, blues, rock and roll, bluegrass or folk. The Kelsey-Hutchinson Park invites you to bring your favorite tailgate spread, sit back and enjoy the sounds of summer as Lyric hits the stage on July 8.  The ever popular Buchanan Boys will be back in town on July 15.  Rounding out the month are Kick the Robot on July 22 and The Company Store on July 29.
