The 36th Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival will be presenting several excellent performers making their festival debut this season.  The festival, known for the extraordinary talent it draws, offers its audience a wide variety of familiar and new artists.  This year’s program will introduce four new faces to the stage.

On Week Three, July 14 through 17, cellist Ani Aznavoorian will bring her much-applauded talents to join Phillippe Quint and Fei-Fei Dong.  As a first-year student at The Juilliard School, Ms. Aznavoorian won First Prize in the institution’s concerto competition and was the youngest cellist in the history of the school to do so.  She will proudly be playing a cello made by her father, Peter Aznavoorian of Chicago.

On Week Four, July 21 through 24, Julio Elizalde will perform on piano with Alexandra Preucil and William Ransom.  Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Elizalde received a bachelor of music degree with honors from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Paul Hersh.  He holds masters and doctor of musical arts degrees from the Juilliard School in New York City.

Aloysia Friedmann will also be making her festival debut during Week Four.  Ms. Friedmann is a violinist and violist, whose broad-ranging career has included tours in Japan, Europe, South America, and the United States; performances with New York’s most prestigious musical ensemble; and a special onstage role on Broadway.

Zuill Bailey will join David Coucheron and the Vega String Quartet during Week Six, August 4 through 6.  Bailey is a 2017 winner of two Grammy awards and is considered to be one of the premier cellists in the world.  Mr. Bailey was named the 2014 Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Alumni and was awarded the Classical Recording Foundation Award for 2006 and 2007 for Beethoven’s complete works for Cello and Piano.  He will also be performing at the festival’s final gala concert and dinner.

Tickets may be purchased for the entire season or for individual concerts and for further information on the entire festival call (828) 526-9060 or visit them online at h-cmusicfestival.org.
