Get your friends, your family, your civic group, or business together and join the fun of the 42nd Annual Cashiers Christmas Parade, this year sponsored by Hattler Properties. It’s easy to become a part of this hometown tradition.
The parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 10 at noon (rain date Sunday, December 11 at 1:00 P.M.) and features over 75 floats, marchers, musicians, vintage cars, fire engines, animals, and more. Wouldn’t it be fun to join the parade? All you have to do is pick up an entry form from the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce or from their website. There is no charge unless you are a commercial entry and then it’s only $25.
The theme for this year ’s parade is Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly, to honor the Valley Garden Club’s 30th Anniversary. Get those creative juices flowing and think how you might carry out this theme. Is it with a float? A wagon? A four-wheeler? How about dressing up your favorite pet?
The parade begins at the intersection of Cashiers School Road and NC 107 South, near Cornucopia Restaurant and then travels through the Crossroads where throngs of onlookers delight at the colorful entries. Spectators can enjoy the event and commentary with street-side broadcast, and those not able to attend can listen and view it streaming live on both a new mobile phone application or via SapphireValley.com, or after the fact on YouTube. You just might see yourself!
As always, the Grand Marshal and Spirit of the Community Award Winners are also featured throughout the parade and, of course, the big man in red, Santa Claus, will be the caboose.
So join in the fun and this year, instead of just watching the parade, join the parade. You’ll be making lifelong memories. Contact Holly Greenia at the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce at (828) 743-5191 and by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also visit CashiersAreaChamber.com.
