Let’s set the scene: the first thing you notice is the rich scent of French press coffee combined with the magic that happens when you cream butter and sugar and vanilla together.
You see custom hand-built shelves and walnut counter tops bursting with cookies of all varieties sitting next to fresh cupcakes and pinwheel French macarons. Loose-leaf tea steeps on your table while you nibble a fresh croissant, admiring the brightly colored British confections and artisan birthday candles. Just sit with that for a moment and you’ll understand the “flutter” part of Cream and Flutter, the exquisite bakery on Slabtown Road in Cashiers.
Owner Amanda Wyatt, her husband Bart, and son Rowan moved to Cashiers after having married at Old Edwards Inn and falling in love with the mountains. They came from Illinois where Amanda had opened the very first Cream and Flutter in Champaign. After years of planning and designing, the Cashiers location of her successful bakery opened over Memorial Day Weekend.
She’s excited to introduce the menu from her flagship store to her customers here.
“We are looking forward to finding out what Cashiers wants. We’ll offer what we know are favorites and then we’ll tweak our menu to fit our customers’ requests,” Wyatt said. “A large part of our business is special orders. We bake everything right here from scratch, so we ask for several days’ notice for a dinner party or family gathering. We also love working with brides and are encouraging wedding parties to book a tasting and cake consultation with us. It’s never too early to reserve your date!”
While in the bakery, look for their pop-up shop brand, “Buttermilk by Cream & Flutter” to bring you amazing breakfast pastries such as buttermilk biscuits, scones, gooey cinnamon rolls, and flaky croissants to bake at home.
Cream and Flutter is located at 45 Slabtown Road, Suite A2 in Cashiers (828) 743-8844. You may email them at email@example.com and visit them online at CreamandFlutter.com.
