SUMMARY:Groovin’ on the Green | The Wobblers at The Village Green
DESCRIPTION:We’re so excited to welcome The Wobblers back to the Commons Stage! \nFor over 13 years The Wobblers have been a cornerstone of the Upstate South Carolina music scene\, earning a dedicated cult following as one of the region’s most distinct and original-sounding acts. This powerhouse ensemble features a four-piece horn section\, piano\, organ\, guitar\, bass\, and drums\, delivering a high-energy performance that is as professional as it is soulful. \nTheir expansive repertoire is a dynamic mix of original compositions and eclectic\, soul-infused covers. Rooted in the spirit of New Orleans\, their sound blends brassy textures and “second line” rhythms—anchored by drummer Patrick Riley—with edgy jazz elements reminiscent of visionaries like Rahsaan Roland Kirk\, Sun Ra\, and Thelonious Monk. At any given moment\, their music might pivot to evoke the legendary songwriting of The Kinks\, The Band\, Elvis Costello\, or the indie-soul sensibilities of Dr. Dog and NRBQ. \nGroovin’ on The Green is FREE and takes place rain or shine on the Commons Lawn at The Village Green. Food and beverage vendors will be available at each concert and concert-goers are welcome to bring their own picnics and coolers. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets; personal tents are not allowed at Groovin’. \n\nGroovin’ on The Green is free and open to the public\, however\, donations are collected to directly support The Village Green\, a 501c3 nonprofit park system that relies on grants and donations to offer our programming. Your donation helps keep Groovin’ on The Green alive year after year! \n\n\n\n\nFavorites Count: 0

SUMMARY:HCFF | “The Return of Lake Toxaway” + Director Q&A at The Village Green
DESCRIPTION:On July 30 at The Village Green of Cashiers\, join us for a free evening celebrating\, The Return of Lake Toxaway. The fun begins at 5:00 pm with a reception\, followed by the screening at 5:30 pm and a Q&A with director John LeRoy Nichols III. \nWhether your family has called this mountain community home for generations or you’re simply passionate about the history and landscapes of the Highlands-Cashiers area\, this is a rare opportunity to hear a beloved regional story finally given the telling it deserves. \nThis event is in partnership with the Cashiers Historical Society. \n5:00pm: Reception \n5:30pm: Film screening followed by a director Q&A \nThe event is FREE! No tickets required. \nThe Return of Lake Toxaway\, a documentary film that brings to life one of Western North Carolina’s most captivating stories. The film chronicles the creation of Lake Toxaway\, the dramatic collapse of its dam in 1916\, and the remarkable effort to resurrect the mountain lake decades later. Filmmaker John LeRoy Nichols III draws on deep personal roots in the region to tell the story of his grandfather\, Reginald Davies Heinitsh\, whose vision and determination made the lake’s rebirth possible. It’s a piece of history that shaped Transylvania County and the broader Southern Highlands community in ways that have long gone untold. \nFavorites Count: 0
