Highlands, long known for its support of the arts, has a new venue for emerging artists, thanks to Highlands Sotheby’s International Realty.
Kele Davenport, Director of Marketing, says, “With the contraction of art galleries, and our new digital environment, emerging artists are feeling the impact.”
That’s why she rallied for the arts with a once-a-month event, “Sundays at Sotheby’s,” hosted July 3 at 114 North Fourth Street in the historic Bryson location.
Jody and Wood Lovell, owners of Highlands Sotheby’s International Realty, add, “We are privileged to occupy the ‘Times Square’ of Highlands known as Bryson’s Corner. The Bryson Family has owned this property for over 60 years. Thanks to their generosity and foresight in preserving Highlands history, we can share this location with The Bascom and other artists in promoting arts for this area.
“We want to create a deeper experience, where the public can meet artists, talk one-on-one with them, and get to know the person behind the passion,” Davenport says.
Sotheby’s kicks off this premiere season with a tribute to local artists of The Bascom.
“For the first few showings we are extremely excited to recognize the Bascom, our local non-profit,” Davenports says.
The Bascom supports regional artists, exhibitions, arts education, and public programs. Davenport adds, “They are an anchor in our community, and we want to show our appreciation.”
Special invitations can be obtained for exclusive gatherings featuring hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and conversation with the artist 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. the day of the opening.
