As the holidays bring their sparkle to the mountains, Cashiers Valley Preschool reflects on a year filled with joy, growth, and community.
This year, families, board members, and staff worked together on a new strategic plan to ensure local children have access to the best early learning experience possible. The plan looks ahead with a clear focus: to provide every child a safe, joyful space to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
That vision includes expanding outdoor learning areas, improving classroom materials, and continuing scholarships so all children, regardless of income, can thrive at Cashiers Valley Preschool.
“Everything we do begins with the children,” says a board member. “We’re not just planning for a stronger school — we’re planning for stronger beginnings.”
Cashiers Valley Preschool’s success is rooted in the generosity and involvement of families and neighbors. The community once again supported the preschool’s goals through volunteer hours, donations, and fundraisers that bring families closer together.
One highlight was the preschool’s Hot Chocolate Stand at the Festival of Trees, where families and volunteers served steaming cocoa to festival-goers. The event was filled with laughter, music, and plenty of marshmallows — and it raised funds that go directly toward supporting children and classrooms.
The preschool’s approach is simple and powerful: play is the work of childhood. Through play, children develop skills they’ll carry into kindergarten and beyond — curiosity, independence, empathy, and confidence.
Playground improvements, fresh materials, and cozy learning corners funded by this year’s efforts create spaces where children feel safe to explore and free to dream. Each act of generosity adds up to something extraordinary — a stronger foundation for every child’s early learning journey.
