There is something about music in the mountains that feels especially fitting as notes carry easily in the cool, crisp air.

That feeling is at the heart of the Highlands Performing Arts Center’s upcoming concert season, a carefully curated lineup that reflects the character, heritage, and vibrant cultural life of Highlands.

PAC proudly presents 12 concerts this season, offering year-round entertainment to the Plateau.

The season opens in May with Balsam Range, one of the most respected bluegrass bands to emerge from Western North Carolina. Rooted in tradition while embracing a contemporary sound, the group sets the tone for a season that honors regional music along with bringing sounds from further abroad to the mountains.

Later in May, The Texas Tenors, the most successful music group in the history of America’s Got Talent, take the stage, blending classical training with country influence.

Summer at the PAC brings Three American Troubadours, celebrating the music of James Taylor, Carole King, and Carly Simon. The show pays tribute to an era defined by thoughtful lyrics and enduring melodies.

As summer transitions into fall, Memories of Motown brings high energy and classic soul. Anchored by powerhouse vocalist Blake Ellege alongside a razor-tight rhythm section, shimmering horns, and radiant singers, this concert brings the timeless sound of Hitsville U.S.A. to life.

Bluegrass remains a cornerstone of PAC programming, with Nu-Blu continuing that tradition in September. The North Carolina–based band combines modern arrangements with exceptional musicianship, appealing to longtime fans and new audiences alike. October brings an international influence with The Barricade Boys, whose West End background and dynamic harmonies offer fresh interpretations of Broadway favorites and contemporary songs.

The fall lineup also includes tributes to iconic American sounds. Chi-Town Transit Authority recreates the music of Chicago with impressive precision, while Damn Tall Buildings offers a more reflective experience, blending folk, bluegrass, and original songwriting.

As the holidays approach, the season turns celebratory. Chris Norton highlights his jazzy range as both vocalist and trumpeter, followed by Hotel California, a nationally recognized Eagles tribute band.

The festive season continues with Mark O’Connor’s Appalachian Christmas, blending holiday favorites with Appalachian string traditions in a performance that feels both festive and familiar and concludes with A Candlelight Celtic Christmas. More than a series of concerts, the PAC’s season offers opportunities to gather, listen, and connect through music. In a community where natural beauty is always present, these performances provide a meaningful complement – bringing people together around shared cultural experiences.
