Highlanders love parades. The annual Christmas Parade draws the entire town as either participants or spectators.
In recent years, there’s been another parade. Highly anticipated by locals and visitors alike is the annual Highlands Motoring Festival’s Main Street Parade of Classics.
More than 100 classic and special interest cars cruise Main Street. Parade participants gather in Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park starting at 4:00 P.M. The parade departs from the park at 6:05 P.M.
The parade is just one of the seven events scheduled for the 19th annual Highlands Motoring Festival. In addition to the parade, there will be two car shows, driving tours, and evening gatherings.

The festival’s 2026 Grand Marshal will be Mr. Wayne Carini. He brings a vast career in all phases of collecting classic cars including his long-running TV show, Chasing Classic Cars. He will be involved in each of the festival events.
The festival’s centerpiece event is Saturday’s Classics in the Park car show, which attracts national attention to Highlands’ downtown park. Classic cars are invited through a rigorous application process and subjected to “concours level” judging. The park is also the location for Sunday’s second, informal car show, High Octane, which does not require registration, has no judging, and is free to both participants and spectators.
Tickets are still available for the festival’s two evening events. Tickets and further information are available at HighlandsMotoringFestival.com
Another way to participate is from behind the scenes. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Highlands Motoring Festival is staged by volunteers. During the festival, a small army of volunteers is needed, and everyone is welcome. The group’s volunteer coordinator, Cal Issac, would love to hear from you – you can reach him at scoop1@aol.com.
