Registration is now open for the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau’s summer camp program at three sites: The Cashiers Club, Highlands Club, and the Abell Teen Club. The program is open to youth entering first through 12th grade.

This summer marks the second year BGCP has offered a nine-week camp at no cost to families. Camp runs Monday, June 8, through Friday, Aug. 7, and operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

BGCP officials said the program offers a safe, welcoming place led by trained mentors, where participants can build confidence, discover new interests and strengthen life skills throughout the summer.

Programming includes outdoor exploration, plus swimming, hiking, games, art projects, a book club, a garden club and STEM learning opportunities. Campers can also look forward to themed days and special events such as Water Day, Field Day and talent shows.

The organization also highlighted activities such as trips to the Biological Station, rocket launches, wildlife exploration, visits to The Bascom and frequent field trips with local community partners. The club also noted outings to local country clubs as part of the summer schedule.

For teens, the summer camp is built around exploring interests and getting ready for life after high school. Offerings include workforce development and career readiness activities, cooking and other life-skills sessions, plus gaming and technology workshops.

As part of the workforce program, participants take field trips to local businesses to learn about different career paths, the organization said. Teens also get chances to practice practical skills through interactive cooking classes designed to build confidence and independence.

Families can sign up online at bgcplateau.org. Registration is open for all three locations, and the club encourages families to enroll early to help staff plan schedules and trips across the nine-week program.
