Each year, pulling off the much‑anticipated Cashiers Designer Showhouse requires dedication and countless hours of planning, coordination, and sweat‑equity by dozens of volunteers and designers for it to be ready by its launch date. This year, that is August 28, and the 29th annual event runs through September 5. Almost as soon as the doors close on the event each year, the groundwork is already being laid on the following year’s Showhouse.
This year, the house is situated at Cashiers Lake, where the lake itself has been newly restored and a new private community is taking shape—one envisioned to connect people and place through walkable paths, gathering spaces, and a planned Lakehouse amenity for dining, wellness, and lake activities. While the dwelling conveys a mountain vernacular architectural style, the structure most certainly sports modernity as well. It is, in essence, a contemporary Appalachian settlement, with plenty of wood to remind of its mountainous locale, but almost a glass‑house feel due to the number of windows. This design feature was purposeful – to bring the outdoors in and to provide plenty of opportunities to view the surrounding natural world.
Designed by Thomas & Denzinger Architects, constructed by Turnkey Construction Group, and landscaped by Tate Landscaping Services, the Designer Showhouse will provide visitors a glimpse of what it could be like to enjoy serene living with accessibility to the varied offerings of the town of Cashiers.
Referred to by the Showhouse coordinators as “visionaries”, 13 interior designers and their design teams from the Cashiers–Highlands Plateau, across the Southeast, and beyond work to achieve the distinctive décor of the three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath house. Designers contributing to this year’s Showhouse include Heather Parker and Wren Caples, Kathy Kuo, Holly Watson, Courtney Brown, Courtney Moss, Jimmy Stanton, Jessica Bradley, the team from The Designer’s Market, Jen Bienvenu, Tori Johnston, Jennifer Arteaga, Dustin and Nathan Fowler, and Rebecca McCracken—each bringing creativity, classicism, and craftsmanship to their assigned spaces.
The 2026 Showhouse is co‑chaired by Caroline Crawford and Allyson Maske, whose long‑standing connection to Cashiers adds a personal touch to this year’s event.
By working together to bring the Cashiers Designer Showhouse to completion, all involved assist in the fundraising efforts of an important community entity: The Cashiers Historical Society. The Showhouse is CHS’s signature fundraiser, supporting its educational programs, publications, and the preservation of its historic campus. Corporate Sponsorships and Benefactor packages are available now.
