The 2nd Annual Brookings Bash returns to Brookings Outfitters at 88 Cashiers Lake Road on Sunday, September 6, with gates opening at 11:30 A.M. for a day of live music, food trucks, local vendors, craft brews, and wine against one of the prettiest backdrops in the mountains.

But the best thing about Brookings Bash is that the good feeling does not stop with the party. It reaches far beyond the stage and into the lives of families across our mountain communities through its support of Transylvania Habitat for Humanity.

Brookings Bash began with a simple mountain idea: gather friends, add music, and make it count for something larger. Chris and Jenn Douglass, Billy Catlin, and Patrick Hurley persuaded Brookings owner Matt Canter that a casual weekend gathering could become a front‑yard concert with real purpose. They chose to benefit Habitat after Hurricane Helene underscored how urgently local families needed support. In its first year, Brookings Bash sold 800 tickets, sold out its VIP offering, and raised $200,000 for the cause.

This year’s music from Upstream Rebellion, Jammy Buffet, and Clay Street Unit will make the day feel more like a mountain gathering than a formal event, with plenty of room for all ages to spread out and stay awhile. Happs, Grand Ole Station, and Fork Grove Barbecue will keep everyone well fed, while local vendors add their own flavor to the celebration.

At the heart of it all is Transylvania Habitat for Humanity. Brookings Bash is not simply a lovely Sunday in Cashiers; it is a gathering with purpose, one that helps build safe, affordable homes for local families. In a region where rising costs make it harder for working families to stay, Habitat’s work creates stability, dignity, and the chance to put down roots.

The weekend begins even earlier with a VIP welcome dinner on Friday, September 4, featuring intimate performances by Woody Platt and Shannon Whitworth. VIP packages are still available at transylvaniahabitat.org/brookings-bash.

Every ticket purchased, every sponsorship given, and every joyful hour spent at Brookings Bash helps move that mission forward. It is a reminder that community is built in more ways than one: sometimes with hammers and hard hats, and sometimes with generosity, music, and a shared afternoon under the open sky. In a place like this, home is not just a structure, but a belonging — and Brookings Bash offers a joyful way to help make more of that possible.
