As summer weekends unfold in the mountains, there’s a special kind of magic in the air, one that invites you to explore art and craft festivals brimming with creativity. Imagine yourself wandering the vibrant stalls with a refreshing drink in hand, the sounds of live music floating through the warm breeze and discovering hidden treasures.
Luckily for us, one of the plateau’s most beloved festivals, the Sapphire Valley Arts and Crafts Festival, returns for two more weekends this year after a successful June show, on August 1-2, and October 3-4. Festival hours run from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. each day. Rain or shine, the festival goes on. The August shows are held outside on the athletic field, and the October show is in the SV Community Center.
There’s something for everyone here, and it’s especially fun for families with room to roam. Add free admission, free parking, and a carnival-like energy, and this festival is a winner. Families can enjoy games and activities for the kids while adults browse booth after booth of handmade artwork and crafts. Adding to your enjoyment is live music and tasty food available throughout each day.
Handmade arts and crafts remain the main draw of this festival, with many visitors returning here year after year to see what their favorite artisans have created new this year, or to discover a new favorite.
Many exhibitors are local artists from right here on the Plateau, while others travel from throughout the Southeast to participate in this well-loved event. The festival is a wonderful reminder of just how much creativity and craftsmanship can be found in our mountain communities. And it’s the perfect opportunity to purchase a little one-of-a-kind magic for your upcoming fall events, dinners, and parties.
Make plans now to visit and find a new treasure that’s likely to become a family heirloom. We don’t need to remind you that it’s never too early to shop for Christmas or find perfect Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas décor. It’s an easy spot to discover a little handcrafted treasure to spruce up your home or tablescape for your upcoming fall events, dinners, and parties.
Gather your friends, bring the family, and make plans now to spend the day exploring the Sapphire Valley Arts and Crafts Festival. Come for the fun, leave with the memories.
All proceeds benefit the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, and they’ll be on hand at the August 1 show, so if you’re looking for a new furry friend, this is your chance.
