The Summer House began in 1989 when Barry and Paula Jones became fascinated by chairs made of willow branches on the porch of a cabin they stumbled upon while hiking in the woods. Inspired, they immediately began researching and building twig furniture. Their hobby quickly blossomed into a thriving business, and Summer House was born. Soon, the business had expanded into one of the area’s most sought-after home-furnishings stores.
In 2020, Summer House was acquired by Reeves Hardware Company and rebranded as Summer House by Reeves, and they remain committed to honoring the original vision laid out by Barry and Paula, sticking firmly to the mantra of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Paula continues to be a key part of the team, working part-time and often lending her voice to radio ads.
Today, Summer House is a one-stop shop for anyone looking to furnish and accessorize their home from floor to ceiling. They do all the groundwork for you; all you have to do is bring your dreams and imagination, and the staff is ready to help you transform every indoor space as well as every outdoor porch and patio. Here, you’ll find the vast selection of a megastore paired with the warmth and personalized touch of hometown service.
You might be surprised by their sheer size when you realize their complex includes four showrooms in their main store, a mattress showroom, a Bed & Bath Cottage, and three warehouses. When we say they have everything, we truly mean everything. You’ll need sturdy walking shoes to see it all.
