The Literacy & Learning Center is thrilled to welcome both new faces and returning families for the 2026–27 school year, launching a comprehensive suite of free educational initiatives designed to empower community members of all ages.
A Bright Start in Pre‑K
The educational journey kicks off with our dedicated Pre‑K program, which provides a supportive, enriching environment Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Focused on fostering social‑emotional growth and critical thinking, the program blends meaningful play with essential early literacy skills. It is designed to be a warm space where children and their families can immediately feel right at home.
Engaging After‑School Enrichment
As students progress into elementary and middle school, TL&LC remains a cornerstone of academic achievement through its popular After‑School programs, which operate Monday through Friday.
Grades K–3: Young learners receive targeted homework assistance alongside unique, hands‑on activities. These enriching experiences are boosted by our strong community partnerships with local organizations, including The Bascom, the Highlands Biological Foundation, Highlands‑Cashiers Hospital, Hudson Library, and the Highlands Fire Department.
Grades 4–8: Older students gather daily for structured academic support, receiving the guidance they need to tackle complex homework assignments, navigate research projects, and master core curriculum concepts.
Tailored One‑on‑One Support
Recognizing that some students thrive with a more personalized approach, the Center continues to offer individualized tutoring. This one‑on‑one mentorship is available to learners of any age and in any subject. Sessions are typically structured for one hour, twice a week, providing the tools and confidence a student needs to excel.
As the new academic year begins, TL&LC looks forward to championing the growth, curiosity, and success of every single student who walks through our doors.
