The CAPTRUST Community Foundation and CAPTRUST Financial Advisor Robin Cook have awarded a $2,500 grant to the Highlands Community Child Development Center, furthering their shared commitment to enriching the lives of children and supporting the communities where CAPTRUST employees live and work.
Founded by CAPTRUST employees in 2007, the CAPTRUST Community Foundation was created as a way for employees to give back to the places they call home. Through its grant program, the Foundation supports local charitable organizations that serve children and families. Employee contributions are matched by CAPTRUST, helping extend the reach and impact of each gift.
The opportunity to support the center began when board member Tracy Wade shared information with Cook about the needs of the Highlands Community Child Development Center.
“When Tracy made me aware of some of the needs at the Highlands Community Child Development Center, it seemed like the perfect fit for our employee grants program,” Cook said. “As a parent myself, I understand how important access to quality childcare is. It was essential for me as I continued to build my career after becoming a parent.”
Cook said the need for quality, affordable childcare is especially meaningful in Highlands.
“Quality, affordable childcare is essential to the well-being of working families and the strength of our local economy,” she said. “This is especially important in Highlands, where much of the workforce comes from outside the community. We are proud to support the Highlands community that we serve and to help ensure local families have access to the resources they need.”
“The CAPTRUST Community Foundation’s mission is focused on enriching the lives of children, and this organization plays a vital role in supporting families throughout our community,” Cook added.
Cook submitted the grant application on behalf of the center, and the Foundation approved the full $2,500 request.
The grant will help the Highlands Community Child Development Center continue its mission of providing quality care and educational opportunities for children while supporting working families throughout the region.
