“To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.” Victor Hugo spoke those powerful words.
On September 10 at 6:00 P.M. people on the Plateau are going to ignight the evening with family fun, food, and a walloping fundraiser for The Literacy & Learning Center.
Highlands Rotary Bingo is making possible an event that will enrich lives and, as The Literacy & Learning Center says in their mission, “to expand the knowledge of children, adults, and families through diverse educational programs that advance literacy in its many forms and to promote lifelong learning.”
Anna Norton of The Literacy & Learning Center says, “We will have food and beverages available for purchase. We will also be seeking sponsorships for the event.”
Here are the Rotary Bingo Sponsorship Levels:
Lucky Number Sponsor — $100
Four Corners Sponsor — $250
Bingo Sponsor — $500
Jackpot Sponsor — $1,000
Blackout Sponsor — $2,500
Anna adds, “All proceeds from the event will go to support students in our free programs, including the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Pre-K, Tinker Time for Tots, After-School, Individual Tutoring, Summer Camps, Adult Education, ESL, GED, and Citizenship Classes.”
Doors open at 6:00 P.M. at the Highlands Community Building. That’s when good food at a good price is served for adults and kids. Bingo games start at 6:30 P.M., ending at 8:30 P.M.
Join The Literacy & Learning Center in thanking the Highlands Rotary Club for selecting TL&LC as the September Bingo beneficiary. Your support helps keep our community’s literacy fires burning.
For more information about sponsorship, contact Jenni Edwards at (828) 526-0863 or jedwards@theliteracyandlearningcenter.org.
And if you can’t provide a sponsorship, come on over on the 10th, burn right through, figuratively speaking, a stack of Bingo cards, and help learning and reading one Bingo number at a time.
