Description

Garden and floral enthusiasts will have an opportunity to view a new documentary “The Well-Placed Weed, the Bountiful Life of Ryan Gainey” at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 27 at Hines Hall at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers.
Steve Bransford and Cooper Sanchez took six years to produce this documentary that captures the unconventional genius of the late gardener and raconteur.
Gainey designed gardens in Atlanta and for clients around the world. He was a horticulture expert, but also an author, speaker, philosopher and mentor. He created a larger-than-life personality. He could be rude, dismissive, arrogant and ornery. But he could also be generous, kind, witty and fun-loving. The film offers revealing segments of his multifaceted interests; everything from his hand-made costumes to his love of poetry by Mark Twain. The 79-minute video discloses his personality and his drive as well as his simple yet flamboyant lifestyle.
Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $20 will be on sale at The Village Green office, Dovecote Porch and Garden and Curated Home in Cashiers, and at Citizen Wilder in Highlands. A portion of the proceeds of this event will benefit the landscape fund of The Village Green, Cashiers’ 13-plus-acre privately-conserved public park.
