Upper and Lower Satulah Falls

Directions: Upper Satulah Falls spills out where NC 28 crossed Clear Creek 2.3 miles south of US 64 in Highlands. It’s not a great view. Difficulty: There’s not a safe spot to pull off.
About: If you keep going on NC 28, 3.55 miles south of US 64 in Highlands, you come to Satulah Overlook and you can see Lower Satulah Falls. It’s not a spectacular waterfall by any stretch of the imagination.
Difficulty: Easy as pie. Just don’t expect to be shocked or awed.

Whether you want to tackle a mountain or sit by a stream, you’ll find just what you’re looking for here. This is a premier golf destination, but there’s so much more available. There are streams to fish, public pools and tennis courts to enjoy and playgrounds, too. Winter sports include ice skating, skiing, tubing and hiking.
