Who would have ever thought that at the end of a dirt road, eight miles from Highlands’ Main Street, Carpe Diem Farms would be the site of a discovery changing the lives of horses around the globe?
Little did we know 25 years ago when we began “Exploring the Human Potential Through Equines” that the horses of CDF would be the focus at meetings, trade shows, conferences, and workshops in the US, Canada, Australia, England, and even South Africa. Easy’s Slipper is putting our herd of equines on the map!
The patented, composite, glue-on shoe/slipper is manufactured right in Dead Eye’s Barn on the campus of Carpe Diem Farms. Every day is an adventure in helping one or more new horses. The CDF horses continue to be our test subjects for new models, renditions and tweaks!
“Keeping the herd comfortable allows them to do their work with our participants in all our programs,” says inventor and CDF executive director Sue Blair. “They have and always will be the reason Easy’s Slipper was created and why we continue to improve and expand our product line.”
The lightweight slipper has less impact on the weight load in the horses’ shoulder, allowing for organic movement and flexibility. It reduces stress on bones, ligaments, and joints; allows for natural flexion of the hoof; and increases oxygenation and blood flow. From mini’s to Clydesdales and all sizes in between, each horse at Carpe Diem Farms has helped in the development of Easy’s Slipper.
