Out of the Round & Into the Fire : A Handbuilding & Soda Firing Exploration at The Bascom

Explore handbuilding techniques and atmospheric soda firing in this intensive five-day workshop. Participants will create original bisque molds, explore slab, coil, and pinch methods, and develop handbuilt forms in stoneware clay.

The class also covers kiln loading, firing cone 10-11 soda pieces, and glaze/slip techniques.

Bring cone 10 stoneware or porcelain pieces to fire, and gain hands-on experience with The Bascom’s new soda kiln. Open to handbuilders and wheel-throwers alike.
