Jenny Mixon and LaLa White

The Art of the Alignment: Walk through the doors of Objet d`Art’s new location, and you’ll be met with a dynamic array of art, unrestrained design and colorful people. In January of 2026, owner Jenny Mixon moved down the street, transforming a simple white building into a green hedge-covered cottage with a deep cerulean blue façade. The panoramic windows flood the space with natural light, illuminating richly patterned rugs, brightly styled tables and a palette that feels intentional from corner to corner. It’s a gallery, but it reads like a lived-in definition of bliss.

Here, the decision to join forces happened in that effortless way when the stars finally align. Jenny and interior designer Lala White of Lala White Interiors (now also a storefront within Objet d`Art) work beautifully together. They didn’t just meet; they recognized each other. Both built reputations on more than just floor plans, fabric swatches and decorative painting – they are dealers of joy, art, people, and beauty.

A Harmonious Space: The collaborative space has a place for gathering, conversation, and presence that creates harmony. The objects of art are abundant yet not chaotic. Each piece holds its place within carefully composed groupings. A green velvet sofa, a geometric wooden coffee table, a gradient vase and styled decor sit at the foot of an oversized abstract realism painting of a majestic North Carolina waterfall – so the room feels cohesive and calm. That inner balance earns the gallery its first star.

Color is where the gallery becomes unmistakably authored. Jenny and Lala layer hues and textures into scenes meant to be discovered slowly. They aren’t just displays; they are compositions. Here, color is not just decoration but mood: bright magenta beside deep blue, and earthy notes set against restrained neutrals. The result is an emotional rhythm that makes people want to return – not only to shop but to feel that atmosphere again. Every element of the partnership suggests care and a deep love of art and design.

The space isn’t trying to be everything at once; its designed for shared time. Fine furniture, art objects and unexpected details signal hospitality before you even register it. This is the second star: attention to the visitor’s experience.

Visit the Gallery: By merging, Jenny and Lala solved the puzzle that many boutique owners face. They swapped the cutthroat nature of the design world for a partnership built on shared devotion. They’ve proven that when two creative forces align, the result is more than a business – it’s a destination.

The design reads like a personal narrative told through contrast: porcelain and gold, coral and turquoise, caviar dishes along side animal-print swivel chairs. The tension keeps the room alive – curious, kinetic, richly detailed until the boundary between gallery and living space begins to blur. The third star goes to fearless eclecticism.

The fourth star is for bringing together the artists with the art-loving community of the Plateau, leaving the collector with a sense of being a participant in the creative process.

The fifth star is for a sense of place that lingers well after you leave. Objet d`Art can confidentially be called a five star gallery: a place where tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and passion, symbolism and play coexist without losing elegance. More than a store or exhibition space, it feels like an unfolding narrative – one that continues to reveal itself in new, unexpected shades.
