The Art of Wine

Collective Spirits is an annual three-day fundraising event for The Bascom, which supports free admission to exhibitions year-round, community outreach to children and adults, and scholarships to award financial assistance to students with need.

This year, Collective Sprits will be June 8-10 and brings together the contributions of The Bascom’s donors, sponsors, vintners, chefs, and volunteers to support its mission to be a cultural anchor in the region.

The festival kicks off with private wine dinners on Thursday, June 8, held in 10 amazing homes across the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau.  

On Friday, June 9, the Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits Market will be held at The Bascom with the chance to taste wines from more than 10 great vintners, brewers, and distillers.

The festival weekend culminates on Saturday, June 10, with the highly anticipated grand gala with wine from guest vintners, live and silent auction lots, and dancing to the music of Class Act at The Bascom.

This year Collective Spirits is proud to feature award-winning Napa wineries including Paul Hobbs, Longboard, O’Shaughnessy, Terra Valentine, Trione and Wrath Wines along with Oregon vintner Sam Tannahill of Rex Hill and A to Z.  The featured Champagne once again will be Laurent-Perrier. Collective Spirits will also introduce patrons to spirits from Chapel Hill’s TOPO Distillery.  

Chefs from around the Southeast will join the festivities to prepare the season’s finest cuisine to accompany the fine wines poured at Thursday-night’s in-home dinners.  Chef talent includes Nick Graves from Restaurant 17 of Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina; Graham House of Sovereign Remedies in Asheville; Greg McPhee of Anchorage in Greenville, South Carolina; Bruce Moffet of Barrington’s, Charlotte, North Carolina; Jacob Sessoms of Table, Asheville; Tyler Slade of 10 Market, Beaufort, South Carolina, and Greg Zanitsch of Fig Tree in Charlotte.  

Collective Spirits is an amazing event that transforms lives through the generosity of support and the long reach of philanthropy that it provides to this community.  And that is the purpose of The Bascom − to transform individuals and community through art. 

Events will be held in various locations Thursday, 6:00 P.M.; at The Bascom Friday, 5:30 P.M. and Saturday, 6:00 P.M.; $1,000  for combo  ticket for Thursday and Saturday events; $100 single ticket Friday wine and spirits tasting; Limited single tickets for Thursday at $750 and Saturday at $500 are available.  For more information, visit collectivespirits.org.
