The town of Highlands celebrates the 37th Highlands Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, October 13, from 9:00 A. M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Highlands Civic Center at 600 North Fourth Street.  Admission and parking to this event are free.

It’s often surprising to think of how many talented craftsmen live in on the Plateau, and years ago the Highlands Women’s Club realized that local artisans needed a venue to showcase their talents.  Thus began this increasingly popular craft fair, which continues to draw not only local artisans and visitors, but also those from throughout the region.  The Highlands Own Arts and Crafts Show marks the true beginning of the autumn season for many who look forward to browsing the handiwork of more than 60 craftsmen.

There is always a wide selection of arts and crafts of every imaginable kind – wood working; fine handcrafted furniture; Christmas wreaths, ornaments, and gifts; woven items; items in stone and clay; paintings; drawings; handcrafted knives; jewelry; candles; scarves and other textiles; hand-blown glass; pottery; and, so much more.  Gardeners also share their home-grown flowers and botanicals. The Japanese Lanterns, dried hydrangeas, and other dried flowers and herbs sold here often find their way into many of the season’s finest wreaths, bouquets, and arrangements.

Another highlight is always the wide array of home-baked cakes, pies, cookies, fudge, and breads, as well as jams, jellies, preserves, pickles, sauces, and other home-canned goods available.  Bring your appetites and pretend that calories don’t count when enjoying all these homemade goodies.

Take those homemade goodies home with you to enjoy, because while you’re at the show you’ll want to enjoy the fresh food prepared by local eatery Fressers.

Mark your calendars now to spend the morning or afternoon here. For more information, please call the Town of Highlands at (828) 526-2118.
