Hammond and Bryan Rauers, co-owners of Franklin Ford in Franklin, together with Hammond’s wife, Mitzi Rauers, of Berkshire Hathaway Meadows Mountain Realty, are offering a fund-raising event for the benefit of the Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park on Saturday, May 20 from 9:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M.
The “Drive 4 Ur Community” program is an expansion of the “Drive 4 Ur School” program, both of which are a joint effort of Franklin Ford and Ford Motor Company. The program began three years ago, and in that time Franklin Ford has donated over $22,000 to local schools. The program involves a request for a short test drive in a new Ford, and Franklin Ford and Ford Motor Company then donate $20 for every test drive given on that day.
This year they expanded the program to include communities, and the Rauers chose Founders Park as this year’s recipient.
“We are very thankful for the vision and inspiration of Nick Bazan, as well as the benevolence and generosity of the Williams Family, the McPhails and other residents of Highlands,” said Hammond Rauers, who looks forward to raising funds for the completion of the park.
Founders Park has become a favorite of residents and visitors.
Mitzi Rauers sums its importance up best − “Our little park is a unique place in the mountains. It brings people together in so many ways, in every month of the year.”
Nick Bazan, President of Friends of Founders Park, says that, “Fundraising for the completion of the park is our main concern and this offer from the folks at Franklin Ford and Mitzi Rauers of Berkshire Hathaway Meadows Mountain Realty is a great example of the support and commitment to the park by our fellow citizens living and working in the Highlands community.”
The goal this year is 300 individual test drives which will generate a total of $6,000 from Franklin Ford. Mitzi Rauers and Berkshire Hathaway Meadows Mountain Realty have agreed to contribute an additional $1,000 provided that the goal is reached.
Mr. Rauers urges everyone to participate: “This is a perfect opportunity to provide the needed funds to complete the renovations on our beautiful little park and we urge every person living in the area to please come to Founders Park on Saturday, May 20, and take that short test drive in a new Ford. It will mean so much to all of us.”
