Fall Family Fun

Highlands School’s Fall Festival, set for Saturday, October 28, at the Highlands Rec Park is a party for the entire community.

Written by: Jenny King

Part fun fair and part carnival, the Highlands School PTO’s Fall Festival is a great way to spend an evening.

On Saturday, October 28, from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M., the Highlands Rec Park will be filled with the sounds of children squealing in delight as they play games for every age.  Little bitties can play the ever-popular rubber duckie pool, while their older siblings can joust in a bounce house and shoot hoops for prizes. Everyone loves to get their faces painted by the
volunteers and the festival atmosphere is enhanced by the Autumn decorations.

Adults and older students always enjoy the haunted house, which is a prelude to Highlands Downtown Trick or Treat on Halloween night. There is a cake walk featuring homemade delights, and the PTO will be serving food throughout the evening.

All month students have been preparing for this night by creating themed boxes for the silent auction.  In years past, themes have included camping, kitchen and cooking, party, and international food.  It’s always fun to see what exciting items fill these boxes that you get to bid on. Local businesses get into the act by offering raffles for everything from gas to groceries to dining.

Tickets are only 25 cents apiece for each activity and raffle tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. It’s a great way to spend quality time with your family and it’s all for an undeniably great cause, supporting Highlands School.

The Fall Festival is a tradition for many families who look forward to this evening each year and it’s not too late for you to start your own tradition.  Make plans to attend the Highlands School PTO’s annual Fall Festival, Saturday, October 28 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M.
