Field-fresh and frankly fun, the Plateau’s Farmers’ Markets are full of natural goodness.
Every Wednesday, now ‘til October, from 2:00 to 5:00P.M. the Green Market at the Village Green opens itsgates to a one-stop harvest shop for groceries and gifts.And it’s right around the corner in Cashiers.It’s a joy to pick through bushels of perfect produce, all-naturaland often organic. Fill your own recyclable bags with yourfavorite, locally raised meats, dairy products, locally-cannedjams, jellies, spreads, and pickles. Yeasty bread loaves, cakes,and cookies outshine any chain grocery bakery. Don’t forgetthe homemade granola – Yum to the very last crumb!Select hand-crafted soaps and bath toiletries to soothe yourskin with lavender, sage, and herbal scents. Have bars and jarsof fragrance on hand for hostess gifts and last-minute favors.Set a gracious table with fresh cut flowers grown in carefullytended gardens from valley to mountaintop. Once you’veprepared dinner’s delights, complete the setting with handmadecrafts and finishing touches for all seasonal gatherings.Market parking is always available. Bring an umbrella just incase. The Market is open rain or shine. No waiting in line forbathrooms for there are potties-a-plenty. Need a break? Rest inthe open-air pavilion as you await your second wind. Enjoy access to in-season fresh produce, locally producedmeat, fresh dairy items and eggs, fresh fruits and veg-etables, jams, jellies, honey, pickles, freshly baked breadsand baked goods, and homemade spreads and dips.The farm-to-table concept is growing in popularity.
