It’s hard to imagine that it’s already time to start making your fall and winter plans, but there are certain events that you need to get on your calendar early so that you’re sure not to miss the fun.
Highlands Food and Wine Festival (formerly Highlands Culinary Weekend) is one such event, so get the red marker out now and mark November 10-13 as the weekend to be in Highlands. The new name marks a rebranding of the weekend to celebrate its move to a more festival-like event, with more and varied activities throughout the three-day weekend.
Enjoy perennial favorites such as the elegant Grand Tasting at The Bascom on Thursday, November 10, where you’ll have the opportunity to sip and savor wines and craft beer, while enjoying live music and delectable cuisine.
The ever popular Sip and Stroll will once again be a treat for shoppers who have come to love this relaxed and inviting way to stroll through our Main Street shops on Saturday, November 12, which roll out the red carpet with wine and hors d’oeuvres.
And of course, the highlight of the weekend are the extraordinary wine dinners prepared by Highlands’ finest restaurants.
New this year are more opportunities for food sampling, live music and camaraderie throughout the weekend.
Food trucks are the darlings of today’s culinary scene. On Friday, November 11, an array of the finest local and regional food trucks will arrive in for Highlands Truckin’ to showcase their finest culinary bites.
On Saturday, November 12, enjoy The Main Event with live music, nationally-known chefs and a community feast fit for a gourmand.
Before heading back home, savoring memories of this year’s festival, plan on staying Sunday, November 13, for a Gospel Brunch. The internationally celebrated Blind Boys of Alabama (www.blindboys.com) will entertain guests with their unique gospel style honed by 50 years of performing.
Also on Sunay is the most exclusive event of the year – Rockwood Rocks! at Rockwood Lodge. A few very lucky guests will have the pleasure of a private concert by the legendary Bruce Hornsby while enjoying the tastings from today’s top culinary talent.
