Old Edwards Hospitality Group is sponsoring the Highlands Historical Society’s “An Appalachian Dinner” on Tuesday, August 8, at the Inn at Half-Mile Farm.

Come enjoy the serenity and charm of the recently renovated Inn and its beautiful surroundings as you enjoy a sampling of foods that were popular on the Plateau decades ago.  To buy your tickets, go to highlandshistory.com or call the Society at (828) 787-1050.

On September 14, patrons of the Historical Society will gather for a tented event in the gardens at the Historic Village.  Entitled Denim & Dulcimers, this event will celebrate the beauty of the dahlia with good food and toe-tapping music.  Celebrants will also have a chance to tour the Historic Museum and take in  exhibits.

Be sure to enter your dahlia blooms in the Dahlia Show.  Not a gardener?  Then come see all of the beautiful dahlias on display at the Dazzlin’ Dahlia Festival on Saturday 16 at the Highlands Recreation Park from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.  See the separate article about the festival on page 50 in this edition of Laurel.

For more information on any of these events go to highlandshistory.com.  If you’re unable to attend these events but wish to support the Historical Society, mail your tax-deductible checks to P.O. Box 1050, 28741.  Stop by the Historic Museum located at 524 North Fourth Street (Highway 64), next door to the Highlands Rec Park on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
