Now residents of Cashiers can shop at their own community tailgate market every Wednesday 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., thanks to Village Green sponsorship.
Each week local farmers will set up on The Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road. These area growers, loaded with bushels of fresh, delicious, nutritious, home-grown vegetables and fruit, meat and dairy, and homemade goods will be open for business, rain or shine, in the middle of each week, just in time to stock up for
the weekend.
Part of the Village Green’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for area residents and visitors. The market is centrally located, prices are excellent, the produce is fresh and vitamin-rich, and local farmers are supported in the process. It’s a win for everyone!
And that’s not all. Plans for the market include a food truck selling delicious fare and other family-oriented warm weather activities, including games for kids and adults.
“The goal of the market is not only to provide increased access to healthful, locally grown food, but also to create a space to foster meaningful community connections,” says Ann Self, executive director of The Village Green. “The Village Green provides the perfect venue for this kind of mutual exchange. This park is a community treasure with a wide variety of events enjoyed by thousands of folks every year.”
