Trunk Shows Highlight Season

Acorns on Main Street features fine European and American antiques, gifts, jewelry, and one-of-a-kind home accessories. Upstairs, shop for designer women’s apparel, handbags, and scarves. In home accessories explore the designs of Juliska, Jan Barboglio, and William Yeoward Crystal. Select from the jewelry collections of Elizabeth Locke, Steven Vaubel, and Temple St. Clair.
The designer trunk shows at Acorns have become highlights of the season. They will be hosting Mary Louise Designer Jewelry September 2 through 5 and Fat Hat Clothing September 9 and 10.
Miami-based designer Mary Louise crafts her earrings, necklaces, and other stunning pieces from Bali beads dipped in 22-karat yellow, white, and rose gold. This is her signature style since developing her jewelry line in 1994 and is one that works well for anyone who loves to layer their jewelry. Golden nuggets, diamonds, cubic zirconia pave pendants, South Sea pearls, and precious gemstones are featured prominently in Mary Louise Designs. These handmade collections have a distinct romantic feel that appeals to women of every age.
Over 30 years ago, designer Joan Ecker of Fat Hat Clothing Company started making hats. At that time she traveled to craft fairs with her two young daughters.
As she says, “I started the business on a whim as a small act of desperation (single mom, food stamps, no idea what to do) and a promise: I promised to make a warm, fun hat for a friend of mine and he promised to help me build my dream home. We both made good on our promises, never imaging what would come of it all!”
From this humble beginning, Fat Hat Clothing Company was born. Ecker decided to start making clothes that, “Love me just the way I am.” Her clothing features soft, easy pieces in delicious fabrics that are loved by women of all ages and body types.
