Green for The Green

For nearly 25 years, The Village Green has served as the green heart of Cashiers.
These 12.5 acres of privately-conserved park land offer gathering, recreational and event space for public enjoyment.
The natural beauty of The Village Green draws friends walking dogs throughout the meandering paths; children frolicking on the expansive playground; and folks enjoying their lunch break at one of the many picnic shelters. On snowy winter days, The Village Green is an inviting space to build a snowman or make snow angels on the lawn.
This past year, The Village Green hosted more than 150 events and celebrations, including birthday parties, family reunions, weddings and other milestone moments.
The Village Green also serves as the venue for outdoor arts and cultural festivals, civic and religious observances as well as the popular, free Friday night concert series, Groovin’ On the Green. The Village Green provides the Fourth of July public fireworks display for the community.
A highlight of 2016 was the Cashiers Plein Air Festival, a week of events spotlighting internationally recognized open air artists. The Village Nature Series, a monthly naturalist program in partnership with the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust, featured presentations on such topics as moss, raptors, fossils, and wildcrafting.
The Village Green could not have enriched the life of residents and visitors to the area with such a diverse array of events and enriching opportunities without the financial support of individual donors. Many people do not realize that The Village Green is not a government-funded park. The Village Green is a nonprofit organization that operates and improves the park to preserve the legacy and lifestyle of Cashiers.
