Each December, The Greystone Inn becomes more than a lakeside retreat — it becomes a sanctuary of generosity. From December 3 through December 24, the inn’s Grand Lobby will once again host its beloved Angel Giving Tree, now in its eighth year of bringing warmth and dignity to neighbors in need.
Launched in 2018 and lovingly expanded each year, the Angel Giving Tree is a partnership between The Greystone Inn and Lake Toxaway Charities, designed to ensure that local children, elderly, and disabled individuals are not forgotten during the holiday season. In 2025, the program will support over 200 recipients across Transylvania County.
Each handcrafted wooden angel ornament on the tree represents a person whose holiday will be brightened by a sponsor’s kindness. For a $250 sponsorship, each child receives:
• A full set of new clothing
• A Christmas stocking filled with essentials
• A wrapped gift from Santa
• A food box for the family
Elderly and disabled recipients receive a grocery gift card, a warm blanket, and a food box tailored to their needs.
For those unable to visit the Inn in person, online sponsorships and tax-deductible donations are welcomed through thegreystoneinnmarket.com.
This year’s celebration unfolds under the caring ownership of Wild Air Ventures, a Vermont-based boutique real estate firm led by Brandon and Daphne Berger, who acquired The Greystone Inn in 2024. Their vision – to craft unforgettable experiences in remarkable destinations – finds quiet fulfillment in the Angel Giving Tree’s mission.
“The Greystone Inn provides a wonderful canvas to build upon its legacy,” Daphne Berger shared at the time of acquisition.
That legacy now includes eight years of holiday giving, each ornament a testament to the Plateau’s enduring spirit of compassion.

All sponsors are invited to join the inn for its annual Angel Tree Lighting, set for 5:00 P.M. December 11 – a celebration complete with holiday music performed by local students, catered food and winter beverages and – this is important, plenty of community cheer by a roaring fire.
As Lake Toxaway reflects the hush of winter and the inn glows with the light of angel wings, The Greystone Inn invites you to be part of this season’s story. Whether you sponsor an angel, share the message, or simply pause beneath the tree’s gentle branches, you’ll help carry forward a tradition that’s become a cornerstone of holiday grace.
