Happy April to each one of you who follow the stories of Carpe Diem Farms, the horses and the program activities that we share.
I have been neglectful in writing, getting the latest news of farm stories to you. We have been busy! I had a fall in the stables, and the result caused me some minor challenges to everyday activities. Well on the mend I’m back to sharing.
For those of you who were not on the mountain for the latest snow I am providing a photos with this article. It was a beautiful event and as always causes this former Florida girl an opportunity to pause and appreciate the added beauty.
There is so much to be grateful for. The five horses, 34-year old Pumpkin; 13-year-old Daniel; Violet, now nineteen; Kaleb 22; and soon to be five-year-old Journey are all doing well. They enjoyed a peaceful, playful winter. I know that they look forward to entertaining the children and adults who come to the farm to participate in a wide variety of programs and activities.

For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to visit the farm since Journey arrived almost two years ago, you just might like to take a trip down Buck Creek Road and have a meet and greet. He is a Shire with a legacy dating back to the conquistadores. Now on the Endangered Species list with less than 3,000 left in the world. Once numbering more than a million in Britian alone, Shires are the world’s largest horse breed. He is a magnificent specimen. Standing at 18.1 hands (measured at the withers) and still growing for up to two more years. That means he is six feet tall at his back. I believe Journey has no concept of his size and is certainly a gentle giant. I will begin his ground training in the coming months and plan to enjoy him as a riding horse when he reaches six.
Wishing you and yours a magnificent Spring on the mountain. If you’d like to come by for a visit you can call or text me at (828) 200-9725.
Happy Trails!
