At Summit Charter School, athletics are about more than competition. They are an extension of our educational mission: a place where students learn perseverance, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence through movement and play.
From elementary recess games to middle and high school team sports, Summit’s athletic programs are intentionally designed to support the whole student-athlete.
Participants are encouraged to challenge themselves physically while learning how to support teammates, handle setbacks, and celebrate success collectively as a team. These lessons often mirror what happens throughout the school day, reinforcing Summit’s belief that meaningful learning happens in many forms – inside and outside of the traditional classroom.
As Summit continues to grow, so too does the need for safe, functional spaces that support student activity. In mid-2025, Summit embarked on a two-phase revitalization of its athletic field; an investment that will enhance team practices, competitive games, and community events. Improved field conditions will allow students to train and play safely, extend daily and seasonal use, and create a more welcoming environment for families and spectators.
For many students, athletic spaces are where confidence takes root. Making a great pass, scoring a needed goal, or simply being part of a team can help shape a student’s sense of belonging and self-belief.
These moments, dovetailing with academic milestones, greatly contribute to ‘The Summit Experience,’ which equips students with a level of confidence that invokes success, self-worth, and the opportunity to thrive in all endeavors.
Summit’s athletic programs also reflect the strong partnership between the school and the surrounding community. Families, coaches, and supporters come together to cheer on students, volunteer time, and help create meaningful opportunities that extend beyond the school day.
As Summit looks ahead, continued investment in athletics ensures that students have the space, support, and encouragement they need to grow – physically, socially, and emotionally. Whether on the field, in the classroom, or beyond, Summit students are learning lessons that will carry them far into the future.
