The Historic Toxaway Market is chockful of scrumptious treats.

While HTM is not a restaurant, its products are tastier and more sought‑after than most diners and grocers. You’re in for a treat with velvety wine, specialty beers, organic and non‑GMO products, locally grown garden produce, Boar’s Head meats and cheese, grass‑fed beef (steaks), venison, and elk.

“If there is something else you crave,” owner Lauren Wiener says, “I can get game, seafood, meats, cheeses, and many specialty products. Let me know what you’d like a week in advance. Reserve at the Market, call me or my assistant Rose, or email your request. I want people to feel comfy with food items that are interesting. We value high quality. In serving our community, we promote customer connection through good food. We do so through a pristine and transparent business.”

Lauren is a dedicated farmer, raising hogs and growing produce. Her connection to farmers and community links local agrarians who produce eggs, produce, and handcrafted art. She and her husband, Chris, take pride in developing their little shop with a big ambition.

They started with a two‑season plan.

“Instead of a four‑season business, we combined spring and summer, April through November, 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.; fall and winter, December through March, noon to 5:00 P.M. We’re open Tuesdays through Saturdays all year,” beams Lauren.

In addition, Historic Toxaway Market offers wine tasting on the second and fourth Thursdays from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., through November. Event notices can be found on their website, Facebook, or Eventbrite.

Everyday basics like local milk, eggs, and bakery goods are fresh and ready for the day’s start.

Lauren says, “We have fresh egg delivery twice a week. The provider takes excellent care of her hens and the result – a melt‑in‑your‑mouth happening.

“We’re also introducing items ready‑made for those on the go. Enjoy frozen meals, charcuterie items (trays are for sale for those party treats), pre‑made salads, and fresh sandwiches. Grab some of these for your home dinner, a trek to the lake, or a hike. We respect your relaxation and exercise by supporting it with quality food. You won’t regret getting the good stuff. There’s no buyers’ remorse at the HTM.”

HTM takes pride in its standards, among them stewardship; a clean and inviting environment; honesty and transparency in their business practice; and going the extra mile by bringing beauty to displays while filling everyday moments with joy.
