Description

 This talk walks through a history of the War on Drugs. Prohibitions affect the consumption and production of illicit and licit substances in predictable ways. One of the most important effects of prohibition is the creation of a black market in the prohibited substances. We will summarize the current state of research including both domestic and international experiments with changing drug laws and outcomes such as substance use, education, health, crime rates and traffic accidents. Presenter: Angela Dills received her Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University. She is currently the Gimelstob-Landry Distinguished Professor of Regional Economic Development at Western Carolina University. Cost: $25/$35       Coordinator: Ed Mawyer
