Ranger Falls

Directions: From NC 106 in Highlands, go west on US 64 for 4.2 miles and turn right at Cliffside Lake Recreation Area. Follow the road for 1.35 and turn into the parking area. Waterfall GPS: N35.08789 W-83-22451
About: This is a diminutive waterfall, scarcely 30 feet high, but there’s a power in its simplicity. Allow yourself a little bit of time to absorb its zen-like tranquility.
Difficulty: You must hike the Ranger Falls Interpretive Trail for just under a 1.24 mile, but it’s easy.

Whether you want to tackle a mountain or sit by a stream, you’ll find just what you’re looking for here. This is a premier golf destination, but there’s so much more available. There are streams to fish, public pools and tennis courts to enjoy and playgrounds, too. Winter sports include ice skating, skiing, tubing and hiking.
