Directions: To get to this series of waterfalls, drive east from Cashiers on US 64 for 16.5 miles to Gorges State Park. Turn into the park and drive for .95 miles to the Visitor Center. Turn left and travel for .8 mile to the Grassy Ridge Parking Area. Stay on the path that brought you to Rainbow Falls for about two-tenths of a mile and you’ll come to Turtleback Falls. About: Turtleback Falls doesn’t make a lot of splash among waterfall enthusiasts, but there’s something beguiling about its gently sloping bed. If you visit on a sunny day, you may see people splashing in its pool. This is the acme of foolishness – there are strong currents and concealed boulders that have caught and killed unsuspecting splashers.
Difficulty: This is easy to get to.

Whether you want to tackle a mountain or sit by a stream, you’ll find just what you’re looking for here. This is a premier golf destination, but there’s so much more available. There are streams to fish, public pools and tennis courts to enjoy and playgrounds, too. Winter sports include ice skating, skiing, tubing and hiking.
