By late July, summer in Cashiers settles into its most generous rhythm – warm evenings, soft mountain breezes, and the unmistakable pull of live music drifting across The Village Green.
This year, the Groovin’ on the Green concert series offers a single July performance, but it’s a big one: Gotcha Groove, taking the Commons Lawn stage on Friday, July 24, from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.
If the name rings a bell, it’s because Gotcha Groove has become a favorite across the Carolinas. They’re a sevenmember, high energy party and event band known for its powerhouse vocals, tight arrangements, and a repertoire that spans nine decades of crowd-pleasing hits. Their setlists move effortlessly from R&B and soul to funk, classic rock, oldies, and beach music, stitched together with the kind of harmonies and polish that only seasoned performers can deliver.
What makes Gotcha Groove such a perfect fit for a Cashiers summer evening is their instinct for joy. They’re a band that loves the stage, and it shows. Whether they’re leaning into a Motown classic or kicking up the tempo with a dance floor favorite, they bring a warmth and generosity that invites the whole lawn to move along. Expect a night of singing, swaying, and more than a little dancing under the open sky.
As always, Groovin’ on the Green is free, a gift from The Village Green and the community that supports it. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and coolers, though local food and beverage vendors will also be on site. The event is rain or shine, and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun.
For groups wanting a home base on the lawn, 10×10 tent rentals are available for $100, with setup and takedown handled by the organizers. For rentals and more information, visit villagegreencashiersnc.com/concerts. Proceeds support The Village Green, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that keeps this beloved tradition thriving year after year.
On July 24, as the sun dips behind the mountains and the first notes ring out across the Commons Lawn, Cashiers will once again feel like the most musical small town in the South. And Gotcha Groove will make sure the night lives up to its name.
