There’s something magical about Easter, especially when you’re a child who still believes in the Easter Bunny, or an adult who still embraces a bit of that magic. It’s a season filled with anticipation, when brightly colored eggs appear as if by magic, chocolate tastes a little sweeter, and the world seems full of joy. Easter arrives as our first true celebration of spring, bringing with it a sense of renewal, new beginnings, and simple, happy traditions shared with our communities and families.

Among our favorite traditions, Easter egg hunts rank right up there as one of the most delightful. Wide-eyed children race across lawns, clutching their baskets, scanning the ground for flashes of brightly covered eggs. Each discovery is met with squeals of laughter and triumphant grins, while parents stand by soaking in the pure happiness of the moment. On a spring morning like this, everything feels right with the world.

Families often host their own hunts, of course, but community celebrations add an extra layer of warmth and excitement. Here on the Plateau, we know how to do an egg hunt right, and there are several opportunities to join in the fun on Saturday, April 4.

In Highlands, head to the Recreation Park at 600 North Fourth Street at 10:00 A.M. for a festive hunt featuring 2,000 toy- and candy-filled eggs hidden for children ages 0–9. Participants will be divided into three age groups, with a special prize egg tucked away for each group.

Cashiers will hold its hunt at 11:00 A.M. on The Village Green Commons Lawn, 160 Frank Allen Road. Children will also be divided into age groups, with ages 9–11, ages 5–8, and children 4 and under. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance for photos on the Commons Stage, and the Literacy Council of Cashiers will be on hand passing out complimentary books to all children who attend.

The Sapphire Valley Resort at 127 Cherokee Trail in Sapphire is also planning an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 4, along with an egg‑coloring contest on Friday, April 3. For more information, call (828) 743‑7663 or visit sapphirevalleyresorts.com.

Embrace the Easter magic at one of these community egg hunts. Don’t forget to bring your own basket, and if you’re really lucky, the kids might even share a bite of chocolate with you.
