June in Highlands arrives with its familiar magic – long evenings, soft breezes drifting down Main Street, and music rising from two of the Plateau’s most beloved gathering places.

The Highlands Chamber of Commerce’s Friday Night Live and Saturdays on Pine series return this month with a full slate of performances that celebrate the region’s musical heritage while inviting everyone to pull up a chair, settle in, and let summer unfold.

Friday Night Live: Bluegrass, Country, and Mountain Soul

Town Square once again becomes the heart of Highlands’ weekend rhythm, offering a June lineup that blends tradition, virtuosity, and local talent.

June 5 – John Webb A seasoned country performer with more than 50 years of music behind him, John Webb brings a laid back, classic sound shaped by decades of storytelling and stagecraft.

June 12 – Young Mountain Magic These powerhouse teenage bluegrass musicians from Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina deliver astonishing skill and youthful fire. Their blend of Appalachian roots and modern energy makes them one of the most exciting young groups on the circuit.

June 19 – Shortoff Mountain Boys A new local supergroup of standout WNC pickers – David Crisp, Charles Wood, Dave Mueller, and Fisher Wilson – this band brings tight, traditional bluegrass with the kind of heat only master musicians can generate.

June 26 – Doug Ramsey Known as the “blue-eyed soul man” from Detroit, Doug Ramsey blends Motown influences with rock, jazz, and contemporary hits. His smooth vocals and decades of experience create a vibrant, crowd-pleasing close to June’s Friday lineup.

Saturdays on Pine: Dance Ready, High Energy Summer Nights

Kelsey Hutchinson Founders Park lights up every Saturday in June with a lineup built for movement, nostalgia, and pure fun.

June 6 – The American Flyers A seasoned collective of career musicians, The American Flyers deliver a tribute to the smash hits of 60s rock trios and big R&B groups. This is a show built for dancing and singing along.

June 13 – UNeek Flav’ur With powerhouse vocals, tight harmonies, choreography, and nonstop energy, UNeek Flav’ur brings a genre-spanning setlist from R&B to Top 40. They’ve shared stages with icons like Boyz II Men, and it shows.

June 20 – Groove Machine The ultimate 70s tribute band, Groove Machine surrounds audiences with the warm, joyful sounds of the decade– exceptional musicianship, irresistible rhythm, and good vibes all around.

June 27 – No Concert

Whether you’re drawn to the roots-rich charm of Friday Night Live or the dancefloor electricity of Saturdays on Pine, June’s concerts offer something essential: a place for neighbors, visitors, and families to gather and let music carry them into the heart of summer.
