When you visit the Durm Farm, you’re met with a welcome sign: Come on down for the best Durm Pork.

Ask anyone who’s chomped into a Durm pork chop or a rack of pork belly bacon or a juicy steak and they’ll testify: “Best Durm meat in the South.” Eating food from a quality farm like Durm’s is not only satisfying for your body, it’s like nourishing your soul.

When you visit, be prepared for a chorus of yaps, oinks, neighs, crows. moos, whinnies, cackles, chirps, and much more. Dean Durm and his family raise and praise their pups, pigs, plant-life and a plethora of plenty more. They will welcome folks who have an interest in purchasing vegetables and meat which are grown with love and care, making the best food for the cycle of life. What the Durms feed and fertilize are high quality food for your family.

Dean and Candace Durm recently installed a freeze-dry system to preserve just about any food for as long as 20 years. Meat, dog treats, beet powder, strawberries, fruit, on and on. Moisture, as with dehydration, would make food heavy and more susceptible to spoilage. With freeze-drying that’s almost entirely eliminated. When you open the freeze-dried packaging the fruit smells like right off the vine. This is how the astronauts preserve their rations. Dehydration food lasts only a few weeks, maybe 5 years at best. Compare 5 years of dehydration to 20-30 years of freeze-drying.

There are so many products, both fresh and freeze-dried, available at Durm’s.

For example, Dean says, “We sell leaf lard too. Leaf lard is a moisturizer. And it makes a great pie crust. No flavor to it because it is rendered, odorless, and pure white.”

Everything they sell is examined and approved. Their private label is inspected by the USDA.

The Durm Farm invites folks to experience the rich bottom land of their Tennessee River Valley Farm in Franklin. Take a tour of the grounds that grow delicious meat and produce. Make your visit when steaks and chops are available. That only lasts a couple of days, so call to be sure your visit is on target. Phone (828) 371-1833.
