As spring settles over Highlands, the season brings a renewed sense of movement and anticipation – an energy that pairs perfectly with a week devoted to flavor, hospitality, and the shared joy of gathering around a table.
From April 6-12, Highlands Restaurant Week invites locals and visitors to explore the town through its food, discovering new favorites while savoring the classics that define this mountain community.
Restaurant Week was created to shine a light on the chefs, owners, and teams who pour their creativity into Highlands’ dining scene. It’s a moment for restaurants to showcase what they do best — whether that’s a multicourse tasting menu, a comforting signature dish, a bold new special, or a curated wine experience.
Clarissa Emily of The Stubborn Bull and The Stubborn Buddha, and the driving force behind Restaurant Week, says, “I am most excited about giving guests the ability to try something new. Whether it be through our tasting menus, deals, or collaborations, Restaurant Week opens the door for people to explore the depth of our culinary scene.”
As Chef Aaron Kulzer, of Highlands Supper Club says,“The thing I love about restaurant week throughout my career is being able to showcase what we as chefs, restaurants, and hospitality as a whole are about. We get to showcase our cuisine, style, and love for our guests on a greater scale.”
“Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to explore fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and comforting classics in every bite,” says Don Leon’s co-owner Ivanet Avila.
Throughout Highlands, restaurants echo that same spirit of welcome and discovery. Pam Canary of Highlands Pizza Place adds, “Restaurant Week at Highlands Pizza Place is the perfect invitation for guests to try something new – our flavorful, tried and true favorites that blend fresh creativity with the comforting classics everyone returns to in the heart of the Highlands.”
Even those who spend their days curating wine feel the excitement. Guy Davis of High Country Wine & Provisions notes, “It’s a great reminder of the new spots we’ve been looking forward to trying, plus a couple of our favorites with creative special menus! What a fun week!!”
The lineup brings together an impressive mix of fine dining, casual favorites, and specialty purveyors—each offering something unique for the week. Participating restaurants include Don Leon’s, High Country Wine & Provisions, Highlander Mountain House & The Ruffed Grouse Tavern, Highlands Pizza Place, Highlands Supper Club, Oak Steakhouse, One Wicker Cheese Co., Outpost Wine & Coffee Bar, Primary, The Secret Garden, The Stubborn Buddha, and The Stubborn Bull. (Based on listings available at the time of printing; additional participants may be added.)
Each restaurant chooses its own approach – some offering multicourse menus, others debuting new dishes, hosting wine tastings, or creating exclusive specials available only during the week.
With longer days and mild April weather, Restaurant Week becomes the perfect excuse to linger in Highlands – exploring trails, waterfalls, shops, and scenic overlooks between meals. Lodging partners are also participating, offering incentives that make it easy to turn a single reservation into a full spring getaway.
What truly defines Highlands Restaurant Week is its collaborative spirit. It’s a celebration of the people who make this town’s culinary scene vibrant, welcoming, and deeply rooted in community pride. Whether you’re planning a romantic weekend, a friends’ escape, or simply a chance to try something new, the week offers a delicious way to experience the Plateau.
