For years, Highlands has been known as a place people escape to. But recently, something new has been happening in town.

More groups of women are arriving with matching outfits, weekend itineraries, and a bride-to-be in tow. Highlands is becoming a bachelorette destination.

The cooler mountain air, winding trails, and scenery that makes you slow down set the perfect backdrop for a spring bachelorette celebration.

Word travels quickly between friend groups, and that’s often how destinations like Highlands grow. Someone attends a wedding weekend here, falls in love with the town, and suddenly another group is planning its own trip the following year.

Then there’s the aesthetic factor.

Between roadside vistas, charming storefronts, cozy restaurants, and waterfalls minutes away, Highlands offers plenty of photo-worthy moments.

The formula is simple: beautiful scenery, incredible dining, and a walkable downtown. That combination makes planning a celebration easy.

Highlands offers a variety of activities without feeling complicated. Groups can start the morning with a hike and, by midday, browse boutiques along Main Street.

And of course, hospitality plays a central role. Ordering celebratory shots, popping champagne, sharing plates, and lingering over dessert creates the atmosphere that makes group celebrations special.

The town’s dining scene rivals much larger cities, offering everything from casual patios to elevated, Instagram-worthy experiences–everything a bride-to-be could want.

If I were planning my bachelorette in Highlands, this is how I’d do it:

Night One: Wine tasting at High Country Wine & Provisions, followed by tapas at The Stubborn Bull.

Day Two: Hike Whiteside Mountain, tour waterfalls with Highlands Excursions, then head into town for custom hats at The Highlands Hatter. End the day with dinner at The Ugly Dog, or stay in for a night of mahjong.

Day Three: Start with Pilates or horseback riding, then pick out the perfect set for the big night at Haley’s Fine Lingerie. Have pre-dinner cocktails at Primary’s bar and lounge before dinner at Madison’s. The High Dive is the place to end the night.

Morning Four: After packing up the rental, make a stop for Bluegrass Brunch at Highlander Mountain House.

Highlands will never try to compete with traditional bachelorette capitals, and that is exactly why it works so well. Instead of neon lights and packed dance floors, the town offers mountain sunsets, long dinners, and laughter echoing down quiet streets at night.

It’s a celebration that feels joyful rather than overwhelming and creates space for deepening friendships. In a place like Highlands, that may be the perfect way to toast the beginning of a new chapter.
