Tracie Heidt is known to many of us here on the Plateau as RetroWhims Floristry, the charming, retrofitted horse trailer turned roadside flower bar at 121 NC 107 in Cashiers, next to the Mountain Mermaid.
Now, that little trailer has grown wings. Tracie has expanded her business into a full-service florist, Fox Brae Blooms, aptly named for her mountain cottage, where wild things grow and provide plenty of inspiration.
Tracie believes that “flowers make everything better,” and her expanded services are finding even more ways to brighten our lives.
Tracie grew up in North Georgia and discovered her love of floristry in high school as a member of FFA. Saving money for a prom dress, she started a small business designing and selling silk corsages, wreaths, and arrangements.
Then, as she puts it, “life happened.” She stepped away from floristry to raise her children and pursue a career in interior design, but apparently, flowers weren’t quite finished with her.
After moving to Cashiers in 2020, Tracie’s love of floral design was reignited. The mountains, flora, and fauna seemed to whisper a story, and she began bringing that feeling to life through her work. The whisper became impossible to ignore in 2024 when she designed the flowers for her daughter’s wedding. Somewhere along the way, Tracie realized she had found her way back to a passion she had never really left behind.

Fox Brae Blooms is a full-service event florist, and Tracie loves listening to her clients and helping them tell their stories through their surroundings. Of course, she can create the traditional looks brides envision, including those beloved Pinterest-worthy arrangements. But give Tracie a little creative freedom, and that’s when her artistry really shines.
Telling stories through flora is what she does best. Every bloom, branch, leaf, and unexpected detail is chosen with intention and transformed into something that feels a little like a fairy tale – part wild, part fantasy, lots of love, and always an eye for beauty. Each wedding or event becomes its own dreamscape, because no two clients are quite the same.
To give each couple the attention they deserve, she works with only one full-service wedding couple per month, allowing her to fully understand their vision and bring it to life.
Fox Brae Blooms isn’t just for weddings. Tracie creates arrangements for fundraisers, birthdays, dinner parties, bachelorette celebrations, or any occasion that calls for something special.
