October 2026

October brings a lesson
to remind us once again,
that letting go can pave the way
for new stories to begin.

The Art League of Highlands-Cashiers’ popular Fall Colors Fine Art Show returns October 17-18 at the Highlands Civic Center, featuring juried works by local and regional artists.

At Cashiers Valley Preschool, small victories and strong relationships help children build a foundation for lifelong learning and success.

Through the Angel Tree Project, local churches are working together to bring Christmas joy to children and families in need. Sponsors can help by providing gifts, supplies, or financial support.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau celebrated six Read-to-Learn graduates whose hard work and volunteer support helped build stronger reading skills and
greater confidence.

Foster families help the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society save more animals by opening their homes to pets in need. One foster home creates space for one more rescue.

Memorial gifts honoring Dolly Parton can help bring free books to nearly 1,000 local children through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Donations made through The Literacy & Learning Center ensure every dollar stays local, fostering early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.

Guests may arrive planning day trips, but many never leave the farm. Between Tux, the animals, and countless discoveries, there is plenty to keep them enchanted.

Howard Hanna opens a new downtown Highlands real estate office, bringing expanded resources and a community-focused approach.
